Project Description

A romantic art enthusiast who endured the storms of history. A pioneer of non-figurative art who blazed like a flame. An artist who expressed agony, bearing the weight of frustration and conflict. An unlucky artist who lived through a turbulent era of history. Despite his Japanese educational background during his formative years, he held a profound affection for Korean culture and its beauty. However, the mental scars he suffered during the national tragedy of the Korean War left him as a solemn relic of a defeated era. Furthermore, he chose the path of solitary non-figurative art, and as his artistic spirit burned brighter, poverty pressed harder. Yang Su-ah believed that the soul was more important than technique and function.
